Thanks for joining me!

I hope you made some new connections —and picked up a few ideas you can use to make your next conversation more meaningful.

More Helpful Resources:

Great connections don’t just happen—they’re created through curiosity, meaningful conversations and intentional follow-up. Here are a few resources to help you turn the people you meet into connections that matter.

  • 5 Questions to Get People Talking:
    1. What can you talk about for hours?
    2. What’s one thing you’d love to learn, try, or do this year?
    3. What’s something you’re really good at?
    4. What do you wish you had more time for?
    5. What’s a challenge you’d like a little help with?
  • Connections That Matter Checklist:
    • Be curious. Ask questions and really listen to the answers.
    • Look for connection points. Notice common interests, experiences, challenges, people or ideas.
    • Go beyond the obvious. Move past “What do you do?” and ask questions that lead somewhere interesting. (See questions above.)
    • Make a note. Capture something you want to remember about the person or conversation in your contacts, CRM or wherever you can reference your notes easily later.
    • Follow through. If you offered a resource, introduction or information, send it in a timely manner.
    • Connect intentionally. Personalize your LinkedIn invitation so they remember where you met and what you discussed (aka connection points).
    • Stay connected. Look for a meaningful reason to reach out again.
    • Give before you ask. Share an idea, resource, introduction or encouragement when you can. Aim for mutual benefit rather than one-sided giving.
